Weekend Recap - Family

It was my grandmother's and my dad's last weekend here before they leave (on Thursday) for Manila, so I made it a point to devote most of the weekend to them. So Saturday, we went to a birthday party for one of our in-laws. She's actually the mother of the wife of my uncle. We spent most of the afternoon there, then headed back early to catch the 5:30pm mass at St. Monica's. Then we simply had a quiet evening at home. Marc came over and brought - to humor my dad and my grandmother - a copy of Monster-in-Law, a movie that we really wanted to try to avoid. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was though - I actually laughed at some parts. But as always, there's a lot left to be desired when it comes to Jennifer Lopez's acting skills. The saving grace for the movie was Jane Fonda's character and, maybe just for me, the mere presence of Michael Vartan. ;)

Sunday, I took my dad and grandma to the house of a distant relative, to pick up some things to bring home to the Philippines. Then we went on a spur-of-the-moment outlet mall stopover, which proved to be very fruitful.

I had to take a little break from family Sunday night because I felt a little overwhelmed so it was spent quietly with Marc. I like those times when I can just kick back and relax and not have so many expectations imposed upon me.

Like I said, it's always, always nice to have family around. But it can get pretty tiring sometimes. I'm sad to see them go, but at the same time, I know I can relax a little more and do my own thing once they leave. It was a really great visit though, and I'm glad I got to spend the time I did with them.
