Labor Day Weekend Recap
Taking into account that it was the "Labor" Day weekend, Marc and I slaved away on Saturday to install the new vanity in my new apartment. I was hoping to be able to finish early so that we could kick back and relax, maybe go get a massage or catch a movie, but no such luck. We were so pooped that we simply had a quiet dinner, watched some DVDs and then called it a night. On Saturday, after doing a little bit of remaining work, we were finally able to lay out for a little while and go bodysurfing. It's such a relief to be able to just slather on sunblock and read a book on the beach. I even took a short nap (thank God for sunblock that prevented my backside from looking like a burnt orange lobster).
We tried to catch The Illusionist which has been out for awhile, but when we got to the theatre, the line was so damn long, and before we got to the window, they called out that the movie was sold out. This is strike 4 or 5 for us - we always seem to have bad luck when we try to see a movie. So we ended up just hanging out at the promenade for a little bit. I was able to get an armband for my new toy, the 4GB iPod nano, Marc's early birthday gift to me (yay! mwah!) and I splurged a little when we discovered that REI was having a sale.
On to Monday. We went down to Venice to have a leisurely breakfast at The Figtree's Cafe, a place that I had always been curious about. The food was great - I had this huge pancake souffle topped with bananas and strawberries. It was so filling that I had to put my foot down and say, "This isn't breakfast, it's brunch."
On the way back, we stopped at a building that Marc's friend Allan was working on. He's a contractor, and the building was absolutely beautiful - sleek, modern lines, great lighting, and so much space. The building actually houses a company that designs movie posters, so I was fascinated with all the pictures and layouts and projects they had laying around.
Since we had eaten all that food, we decided to go for a quick trail run at Sullivan Canyon. But for some reason, my energy went kaput with the heat, so we hiked/ran instead up the hill, then ran back down.
We reconnected with Allan after our run, and went on a quick sail around the marina, cut short because my tummy just could not hold on, with the huge waves. I really have to get those motion sickness bracelets!
No climbing this weekend, but I'm hoping to head out to Tuolomne or Yosemite sometime soon. My hands and arms are aching for some rock! :)

Black or white Nano? Lots of rumours going around, a possible next-gen higher capacity Nano's coming out soon. Hopig for a price drop on the existing ones...

It's the white one. Got an armband/case right away because people have been telling me it scratches easily.
